E-quipment highlight: Makita XGT 40V 9″ power cutter

Entertainment

The new XGT 40V 9″ Power Cutter from Makita cuts through masonry and metal without gas, without oil mixing, without noxious exhaust, and without useless noise. This battery-powered machine means business!

First announced in October and just beginning to hit stores, the new-for-2024 40V max XGT® 9″ Power Cutter (GEC03) delivers superior cutting power with less vibration than previous electric cutters, making the new XGT ideal for masons and hardscape contractors, fire and rescue personnel, and the types of characters who find themselves in fistfights with medieval knights on a regular basis.

And, while almost every new iteration of a tool or bike or car will say stuff like the above, the new Makita Power Cutter really is an impressive step up over last year’s. Consider: the new GEC03 model one-ups the outgoing XEC01 with a max cutting depth of 3-1/2″ and up to 45% more power from its upgraded electric motors. Motors that deliver 55% fewer vibrations for reduced user fatigue and more precise operator control.

The new Makita XGT 40V also features an integrated water delivery system with a flow adjustment knob built in, allowing the new 9″ Power Cutter to continuously feed water as it cuts, reducing dust and helping meet OSHA Table 1 Compliance in concrete cutting applications. Other safety features include an adjustable blade guard and a rubberized adjustable front handle that can be held in multiple positions, increasing comfort and further reducing fatigue.

In addition to keeping its operator safe, the Makita keeps itself safe, too, with Extreme Protection Technology (XPT™) that’s engineered to improved dust and water resistance and keep the cutter running strong in some of the harshest conditions.

Cordless power tools have come a long way, and next-level tools from Makita and others are proving the worth of batteries in extreme duty conditions. The more that happens, the more likely crews are to welcome electric power in ever-larger applications … like excavators and wheel loaders.

And, whether they like it or not, ever tightening noise and emissions regulations are making battery power a must-have in more markets by the day.
