There’s growing pressure on the government to get British nationals out of the war-torn capital of Sudan.

Sky News understands that British troops have flown to a port in eastern Sudan on a reconnaissance mission.

But it does not mean any rescue is imminent, as the government is working out options to present to the Prime Minister.

The Former Director of Military Operations in the Ministry of Defence, Air Marshal Edward Stringer, analyses the possible options the UK has to rescue its citizens.
